September 2010 BAARC minutes

Meeting started promptly at 7:00 pm.

The agenda for the evening consisted of presenting some completed electronic projects  that the various members had made and to describe it to the members.

Reid Shipp presented his project which consisted of a vacuum tube 6 meter converter. He described the various problems he needed to overcome.

Jim Delwood presented a direct digital frequency synthesizer to cover the range from audio to about 25 Mz. The article first appeared in Communication Quarterly winter 1997 and was designed for ISA bus computer. Frequency steps from 1 hz to 1 Mhz would be possible. The supplied program to run it was C++ but when programmed it did not function. The board has yet to work because he was not familiar with C++.

Another project copied from QST JAN 2002 covered a range of one-half megahertz crystal controlled and the range chosen  was 5 to 5.5 Mhz It worked very well and had steps from 1 hz to 100 kHz

The rest of the evening was devoted to planning for emergency conditions to help with using hospital facilities.
